Short update :)

Delhi heat, train stations, train ride, monsoon rains, and a few landslides later I’m in the hills. ‘The hills’ are what the locals and Delhites call the area that I am in – District Nainital, Uttarakhand. The area is in the foothills of the Himalayas, an area (Nainital in particular) that was popular with the British during colonial times. Nainital is nicknamed ‘The Lake District’ as it apparently reminded the British of this area in the UK.

The place is beautiful, peaceful but also constantly changing. I arrived in some nasty monsoon rains but these subsided a few days later and the weather has been gorgeous and sunny since. I wanted to upload a photo, but have such bad internet connectivity that I don't think it would manage it.

The net is a real challenge at the moment so this hasn’t been as long post (*sorry*). But, I’m here and have been getting cracking on work already - it’s been good to get going as otherwise it’s very quiet up here. I’m certainly learning to be patient and to exist without the internet!

I've also learnt that I cannot cook Indian food - myself and another volunteer had a disastrous attempt last night, no recipes only ingredients - let's just say it didn't turn out well.

Last weekend I saw a band called Yodhakaa from Chennai - I recommend you all check them out  http://youtu.be/_H5aSAeahW4 again, I have a video and pics for when I can upload them!

Please all have your fingers crossed that they will sort out the wireless network by next week – knowing Indian time, it will probably be back up and running in December.

So for now, I’m afraid that is it - more to follow soon hopefully :)

B xxx
